Nancy Erickson's 1945 Jacket

This is Nancy Erickson's 1945 Jacket Pattern from Fashion Sewing Group. She has really good fitting patterns with lot's of ideas for making the garment your own. Her directions for fitting to your body are very good too. The fabric is a yellow tweed also from Fashion Sewing Group. I'm very pleased with the results.

2008 Timmel SWAP

I have finally put my storyboard together for the Timmel SWAP that begins next week. I will be using Vogue 8262 for my wardrobe pattern. In the center of the collage are my premade garments, a Loese Hinse shawl collar jacket made from a silk tweed fabric from GiGi's in Scottsdale, AZ. The other garment is the navy Soho pant in poly/rayon from Nancy Ericson.
The Vogue pattern will be used for pants in poly pinstripe, a skirt in cream linen (Timmel), and blouses in cream linen and vintage navy/cream cotton print. Loes' tank dress will be used to make a dress in lightweight wool/rayon plaid, a burnout velvet tank (Timmel) and a cream streach lace cami (Timmel). The navy/cream dotted rayon will be made into a gore skirt and Italian blouse (both Loes Hinse patterns). Lastly, the navy knit (Timmel) will be made into a basic top, also a Loes Hinse pattern.

Vintage Sewing Machines

This was my grandmother's Singer sewing machine. I need to refinish the cabinet and spend some time getting it to work again.

New Purse

This is my favorite Christmas present. Out new kitten, Merry.

I made this purse this afternoon after finally getting some time after Christmas. The pattern is Vogue 7701 and the leather is from the Yahoo group fabric coop, Fabrics and Notions. I lined it with a bright pink and purple plaid silk dupionni from my stash and added the outside pocket.

New Shirts

The first shirt is constructed from denim-blue cotton eyelet purchased from the Fabrics and Notions coop. The pattern is McCall's 4922.

The second outfit is constructed from stripe and solid linen purchased from D'Leas Fabrics summer selection.
The shirt is Sewing Workshop Elle Shirt. The pants are my favorite Textile Studio Soho pant modified with a wider leg and drawstring waist. Teh out fit is comfortable and trans-seasonal. Next time I will make the shirt shorter. I especially like the buttons, they are red with a black edge.

New Jacket

I've been out of town a lot in the last few weeks and really missed sewing. This weekend I finally got back to my sewing room. This jacket turned out very nice. The fabric is a double weave from D'lea's (http://www.dleas.com/). Dianne had great fabrics in her Denver store and I was soooo sorry to hear it had closed. But, she is now selling great fabrics on-line. I used Indygo Junction's Simple Swing Jacket pattern #IJ700.

This upcoming Labor Day weekend I plan to spend lot's of time in my sewing room!
